See the condition of your fields anytime, anywhere with IoT technology
Insights from Farmers in Wakayama and Hiruzen
Based on interviews with local farmers, we received the following voices:
- “It would be great if I could monitor my field anytime, anywhere.”
- “Half of my mandarin oranges were eaten by wild boars and badgers…”
- “Watering is hard work—and it greatly affects both the taste and yield of crops.”
Action Plan for FY2025
- Install affordable and reliable web cameras to enable real-time, remote field monitoring.
- Cultivate crops such as potatoes, with trials in natural farming methods.
- Set up remote monitoring and color video recording of wildlife (especially wild boars and deer), with a focus on nighttime activity.
- Use sequencers to project a variety of sounds, lights, and visuals, and monitor how wild animals react.
- Apply image analysis to model behavioral responses to stimuli such as music (e.g., Seiko Matsuda, Hiroshi Itsuki, Southern All Stars, Beethoven), lighting, and visuals.
Note: Further control systems will be gradually implemented, including deterrent measures for harmonious coexistence with wildlife, as well as moisture sensing and automated irrigation.
What happens when a wild boar hears Seiko Matsuda’s “Red Sweet Pea”?
A curious experiment in smart farming—seeking harmony through music and projected imagery.
